What is Spiritual Direction?
A basic definition could be: a conversation between people aimed at exploring one’s connection with the divine in their life. This discussion can lead to many questions you might want to explore: How do you sense that divine presence? How do you feel your connection to the divine has shown up in your life? How do you feel the divine is working with you right now? As the conversation continues, those and other questions may arise.
An old description framed spiritual direction as ‘one beggar showing another beggar where there is bread.’ In an ever-changing world, we often forget that our spirits need attention and tending to, as do all other aspects of our lives.
Spiritual Direction is a place for all of that. A place to explore your own spirituality or faith with someone who has no agenda other than to assist as he may.
A bit about me
I was raised in a Christian tradition, and I am at home in the Church of the Brethren. My wife and I live in Indianapolis, Indiana. I have a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Spiritual and Social Transformation, the latter of which included two years of training in Spiritual Direction through Oasis Ministries.
While my spiritual walk is rooted in a Christian tradition, my focus will be on helping you explore your own spiritual journey and not on promoting mine. I am a member of Spiritual Directors International and work by their Guidelines for Ethical Conduct, which you can find here.

Typically, a session could last up to an hour, and I can meet with you virtually (WhatsApp, Google Meet, or Zoom).
We could also arrange to meet in person at a coffee shop, a library or other public space before deciding on how future meetings could be conducted.

To help discern if Spiritual Direction is right for you, I offere a free of charge meeting as a way for us to get to know each other. This meeting can be virtual or in person—a coffe shop, library or other public space.

I typically start with a prayer, a reflection, or an exercise to help center and prepare us for the session. We will start conversationally and see where it goes from there.

$55 per session
$30 for students
I don’t believe that financial issues should interfere with receiving spiritual direction. If you are having an issue there, talk to me about a possible sliding scale.
